Chiang Mai University’s Faculty of Engineering is set to engage in academic collaboration discussions with Taiwan’s Yuan Ze University (YZU) on November 12, 2024. This follows a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in June between the two Universities, signaling a shared commitment to fostering educational and research partnerships.

Key areas of collaboration include the development of dual degree programs in engineering, exchange opportunities for students at all levels, and a potential International Bachelor Program in Engineering. A primary focus is on a dual degree format that could offer master's students comprehensive experience, including internships within Taiwan’s Semiconductor and PCB industries, a subject highlighted during the TPCA 2024 event.

Additionally, YZU aims to recruit students from CMU’s Bachelor’s program in engineering for its Master’s program in Smart Manufacturing for Electronics. Research initiatives are also on the agenda, with potential collaborations in logistics engineering, supply chain management, artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Six professors from YZU are attending the APIEMs 2024 conference, offering a timely opportunity to align research interests.

Representatives from both Universities will be present for the discussions, including Prof. Yun-Chia Liang, Chief of the Global Affairs Office at YZU, and Prof. Yi-Ming Sun, Dean of the College of Engineering, along with Assistant Professor Chatchawan Chaichana, Associate Professor Ukrit Mankong, and Dr. Wisarut Achariyaviriya from CMU. This partnership aims to strengthen engineering education and research in both Thailand and Taiwan, contributing to regional academic advancement.
