ENG CMU Welcomes KAIST Representatives to Strengthen Academic Collaboration

The Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thongchai Fongsamootr, Dean  along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Korrakot Yaibuathat Tippayawong, Associate Dean, and faculty members from the Department of Mechanical Engineering including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Watchapon Rojanaratanangkule, Assistant Head of Department, Dr. Krit Sujarittam, and Dr. Napassawan Wongmongkol, welcomed representatives from Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, Korea. The visit aimed to discuss academic collaboration between the two institutions, focusing on short-term internship programs and future joint workshops. The first delegation visited on Friday 17th January 2025, at 10:30 AM, comprising:

  • Dr. Hyoungsoo Kim, Professor of Mechanical Engineering
  • Dr. Chan Beum Park, Professor of Materials Science & Engineering

 

Subsequently, on Tuesday 21st January 2025, at 2:00 PM, another distinguished delegation from KAIST visited, including:

  • Dr. Ikjin Lee (Professor of School of Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering at ME KAIST)
  • Choongsik Bae (Professor at ME KAIST)
  • Bong Jae Lee (Professor at ME KAIST)
  • Prof. Dr. Seong Su Kim (Associate Professor of Mechanical Design Lab with Advanced Materials at ME KAIST and Adjunct Prof. in Dept. of Aerospace Engineering/School of EE)
  • Prof. Dr. Song Ih Ahn (Biohybrid Systems Engineering Laboratory)

The delegation met with the Dean along with faculty members from the Department of Mechanical Engineering to strengthen the long-standing relationship between the two institutions. The welcoming committee was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thongchai Fongsamootr, Dean along with faculty members from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, including Asst. Prof. Dr. Pinyo Puangmali (Head of Department), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niti Kammuang-lue (Deputy Head of Department), Prof. DrNakorn Tippayawong, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Watchapon Rojanaratanangkule.

Both meetings were held at Teeyaporn Meeting Room, 6th floor, 30th Anniversary Building, Faculty of Engineering, reflecting the commitment to enhancing academic collaboration between the two institutions, leading to sustainable development of knowledge and academic exchange.
