IE CMU hosted a special lecture on “Modeling, Simulation, and Optimization in Production Logistics – with New Insights from AI” under the SME5.0 Project
Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University together with SME5.0 Project, hosted a special lecture titled “Modeling, Simulation, and Optimization in Production Logistics – with New Insights from AI” on Wednesday, 8 October 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lecture Room 3, Industrial Engineering Building.
The lecture was graciously delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Jeong Yongkuk, an expert in Sustainable Production Logistics from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden.
The lecture introduced the fundamental concepts of modeling and simulation as essential tools for analyzing and improving production logistics. Real-world examples illustrated how optimization supports key tasks such as routing, resource allocation, and warehouse operations. It also highlighted recent advances in artificial intelligence, including reinforcement learning and large language models, which enhance the potential of optimization in the manufacturing sector.
