On October 21st 2025, The Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University (CMU), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction Public Company Limited (STEC) to strengthen education, research and development, and upskilling in engineering and technology for the large-scale construction industry. The signing ceremony took place at the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University.
This collaboration focuses on developing students and graduates with professional competencies and ethics; promoting the exchange of academic knowledge and technology between academia and industry; and supporting sustainable development in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on quality education and Goal 9 on industry, innovation, and infrastructure.
The scope of collaboration includes supporting internships and cooperative education (co-op) for qualified undergraduate students under company criteria; jointly developing human resources to strengthen both organizations; and conducting an annual review to monitor and enhance the outcomes of the partnership.
Under the MOU, the Faculty of Engineering, CMU, will support research in engineering, science, and information technology; facilitate knowledge exchange between personnel; and produce graduates with competencies that meet industry needs. STEC will promote, develop, and provide academic consultation related to engineering and construction technologies; offer internship and co-op opportunities; and facilitate site visits and learning activities at its learning centers and project sites in accordance with company guidelines.
This MOU serves as a statement of intent to set a clear direction and mechanisms for concrete collaboration, grounded in transparency and good governance, and in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies of both parties. With the Faculty’s vision as a “Leading Institute for Future Engineers” and STEC’s six decades of leadership in Thailand’s construction sector, both parties are confident that this partnership will elevate national capabilities in human capital, technology, and innovation, and enhance Thailand’s competitiveness on the international stage in a sustainable manner.
