Engineering CMU Explored Collaboration with Monash University

On 25th July 2024 — A high-profile delegation from Chiang Mai University (CMU) visited Monash University in Melbourne to explore potential collaborations. The delegation included:

  • Associate Professor Dr. Thongchai Fongsamootr, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering
  • Assistant Professor Dr. Chatchawan Chaichana, Associate Dean
  • Assistant Professor Dr. Korrakot Yaibuathet Tippayawong, Assistant Dean
  • Associate Professor Dr. Santi Phithakkitnukoon, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering
  • Associate Professor Dr. Damrongsak Rinchumpu, Lecturer
  • Associate Professor Dr. Napat Jakrawatana, Lecturer
  • Professor Dr. Nakorn Tippayawong, Lecturer

Upon their arrival at Monash University, the CMU representatives were welcomed by Professor Patrick Olivier. The visit commenced with an introduction to the Monash Faculty of IT by Professor Aldeida Aleti, Associate Dean (Engagement & Impact), followed by a presentation from Associate Professor Aamir Cheema on the Urban Computing Lab.

The delegation then received an overview of the Monash Faculty of Engineering from Professor Le Hai Vu, Deputy Dean (Research). Following this, the CMU representatives provided an introduction to Chiang Mai University and engaged in a Q&A session with Monash faculty members.

In the afternoon, the CMU delegation toured the Action Lab in the IT department, led by Professor Patrick Olivier. The visit concluded with a tour of the Monash Innovation Labs (MIL) in the Engineering department, guided by the MIL team.

This visit marks a significant step in fostering academic and research collaborations between Chiang Mai University and Monash University, paving the way for future joint initiatives and projects.
