Engineering CMU Delegation Visited the University of Melbourne for Collaborative Project

On 24th July 2024 — A delegation from Chiang Mai University (CMU), led by Assistant Professor Todsaporn Pichaiya, Vice President and Associate Professor Dr. Thongchai Fongsamootr, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, visited the University of Melbourne to explore collaborations under the project titled “The Future-Link: Chiang Mai University and The University of Melbourne.”

The CMU delegation comprised:

  3. Assistant Professor Dr. Chatchawan Chaichana, Associate Dean

  5. Associate Professor Dr. Santi Phithakkitnukoon, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering
  6. Associate Professor Dr. Damrongsak Rinchumpu, Lecturer from the Department of Civil Engineering
  7. Associate Professor Dr. Napat Jakrawatana, Lecturer from the Department of Environmental Engineering
  8. Professor Dr. Nakorn Tippayawong, Lecturer from the Department of Mechanical Engineering

In the afternoon, the CMU representatives met with distinguished faculty members from the University of Melbourne, including:

  1. Professor Thas Nirmalathas, Interim Dean of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  2. Dr. Eirini Goudeli, Assistant Dean International, Chemical Engineering
  3. Professor Lu Aye, Infrastructure Engineering
  4. Professor Tuan Ngo, Infrastructure Engineering
  5. Dr. Marc Cheong, Information Systems and International Representative for the School of Computing and Information Systems

The visit was part of the “Future-Link” project, focusing on future cities, disaster resilience, and sustainable energy collaborations. This initiative, supported by Chiang Mai University and funded through the “Person to Organization Program (P2O),” aims to foster partnerships with some of the world’s top 50 universities. By engaging in this international outreach, CMU seeks to enhance its research capabilities and elevate its global academic standing.
